Over two award-winning decades in marketing, content I've created and strategized has been viewed billions of times and driven millions of dollars in revenue for everyone from pre-seed founders to IKEA, L'Oréal, and Google. Not bad for a self-taught coder and university dropout who became a single parent of two under two at 27.
(You could say, after all that, very little fazes me).
Now I'm building Romy - the go-to-market operating system for founders: you build the product; Romy takes it to market. I've spent my career embedded in the exact problem Romy solves from every seat there is - founder, operator, brand, creator, teacher. The problem never changed: good products die waiting to be found.
And yes, Romy is named after my dog.
I taught myself HTML at 14 from a library book and ran a web-dev business through my teens, and built my own blogging platform, based on Greymatter, before WordPress existed. I dropped out of the University of Nottingham because I was eager to earn and get cracking on my professional life, started in sales, and worked my way into digital marketing before it was a job.
Three years at Vice took their online audience from 60,000 to 1.2 million a month. Then at 27 I found myself a single parent with two babies, and the choice was a non-career admin job that fit around them or learning what it means to be an entrepreneur. I picked the second.
The first business paid its way on big contracts and I used them to afford the clients I loved: people with a dream or a product and no idea how to sell it. I ran a school teaching mothers to build businesses after maternity leave. Later I went back to corporate on purpose, to learn scale - Ogilvy through COVID, two agencies through hypergrowth, a $25m P&L, a US launch. Redundancy after my third baby made the next decision easy: back to founders, this time using AI to multiply them. I ran an e-commerce business for eighteen months to learn the one side of business I'd never done.
Romy is the third embodiment of this company; the other two were consultancies and classrooms, and now the tech is finally there for it to be software.

A selection rather than the full list - more lives in the Tincture case-study library.
Also a selection - the things that escaped the house.
